Announced last October 2015, Microsoft Surface Book appears!

The new Microsoft Surface Book is a versatile new hybrid that can function as a tablet for handheld use or snap on to its keyboard dock turning it full pledge laptop for productivity functions. With Surface Pen, it lets you have a smooth and precise touch input so you can doodle, write and take notes with ease and accuracy.

Surface book sports a 13.5 Pixel Sense Display at  3000 x 2000 resolution at 267 PPI. Inside, it carries the latest 6th generation of Intel Core processors complimented with abundant 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. NVIDIA GeForce Graphics serves its graphic card but Surface Book must be in laptop mode to utilize it.

We got to hold the new Surface Book and it is very solid and has great built with magnesium alloy. You can easily attached the Surface Pen on the side. Hinge is sturdy and tablet clings on to the base tight. There a release button if you need to detach it as a tablet or as Microsoft put it clipboard. The laptop cannot be fully closed as to prevent keyboard touching the screen though it leaves a gap that other things might enter. You may have notice holes around the tablet which serves as exhaust to control heat.

It performs well, smooth and quick launching apps with no hiccups. Oh this is i7 model so its a power house that's why. Windows Hello is operational and with its front camera it detects your eye so as you can securely unlock the Surface Book.

There is only the SurfaceConnectTM port and Headset Jack on the Tablet or to say clipboard. You can used this SurfaceConnect port by clipping on accessories to charge it or connect it to Surface dock. Major ports are located on keyboard dock such as Two (2) USB 3.0, Full-size SD™ card reader, and Mini DisplayPort. For Wireleess connectivity, WiFi and Bluetooth is available.

Microsoft quuotes the Surrface Book to run 12 Hours of Video Playback. This is great considering its size and powerful internals.

Comes with Windows 10 PRO and 30 Day Trial for Office.

Microsoft Lumia 550 Budget LTE Windows 10 Smartphone Specs Price

Microsoft unveiled budget Lumia 550 last October 2015 and now is available locally!

The new Lumia 550 gets an 4.7 inch HD LCD Display and is powered by a Snpadragon 210 Quad-Core Processor with Adreno 304 GPU supported with 1GB RAM and 8GB Internal Storage. Storage is expadable of course via Micro SD.

With the new chipset, LTE has been added to budget range of Windows Phones supporting LTE FDD networks with Band 1 (2100 MHz), Band 3 (1800 MHz), Band 7 (2600 MHz), Band 8 (900MHz), Band 20 (800MHz). Other connectivity features such as WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS is also available.

Camera-wised, it carries a 5MP rear camera with 1/4 sized sensor at f2.4 aperture supported with LED Flash (same as ones used in 535). For it front, you just get a 2MP at f2.8 aperture which is just pretty basic.

You do get Windows 10 as well as Microsoft services and apps that include Office and OneDrive Cloud Storage.

Battery is at 2100mAh with up to 17 hours talk time,  60 hours of music and 7 hours of video playback.

Priced at $139 and was said to come in December 2015 but it has now been spotted via Memoxpress for only 6,490 Pesos!

Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL Specs Price Philippines

Microsoft high end Continuum Ready Lumia 950 and 950XL is set for pre-order Philippines.

The Lumia 950 comes in manageable compact size with at 5.2 inch while Lumia 950XL is the phablet-sized with its 5.7 inch. Still retaining the polycarbonate signature built of original Lumias. Both at Quad HD resolution AMOLED enhanced with ClearBlack Technology strengthen with Gorilla Glass 3 Protection.

The two comes with Snapdragon chipsets with Lumia 950XL equipped with its Octa-Core Processor; Lumia 950 with Hexa-Core. As for memory it comes with 3GB RAM and ample storage with 32GB (expandable via MicroSD up to 250GB). Heat issues have plague the high end chipset of Snapdragon (810, 808) but Microsofft seem to found a solution as these two are first to employ a liquid cooling.

As for optics, follows Lumia 930 at 20MP Purview Primary Rear Camera at f1.9 aperture with Carl Zeiss, OIS and supports 4K recording. A RGB Triple LED Natural Flash is added for more light support. For its front, it packs a 5MP Front Camera.

Microsoft takes connectivity to the next level with new hardware USB-Type C port and Windows Continuum. Be able to connect it to an external display through Display Dock and be able to use your smartphone and turn into portable pc and be able to use usb peripherals like mice, keyboards, flash drives and among others. With new port it supports Fast Charging. Regular connectivity features are also available such as WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC.

Windows 10 Upgrade RTM

We are just days away from the official release of Windows 10 Upgrade! Excited?

Well just got hold of the official Windows 10 RTM (Released to Manufacturers) and is now on my Asus Transformer Book T100TA (32GB Model).

It must be noted that before installation i had only 3.6GB of free internal storage. It took almost 3 hours with multiple bootups to get things done and finally...

Windows 10 Home

Initially the machine was slower but this was because of the graphic card as it made use of just the basic Microsoft display driver. The system did update the drivers and after which became smooth and fluid.

On Windows 10, the charms bar disappeared was replaced by Action Center with notifications and quick toggles for basic functions.

Start button has returned. In Desktop mode, it shows you most used programs, settings and power options while on the side is your Metro Tiles. You wont be able to retain your Windows 8.1 Metro tile so you need some customization after you update.You will notice new applications such as Microsoft Edge, Phototastic Collage, Line and finally Candy Crush! If your coming from preview build 10166 this would be the most noticeable change you would notice. On Tablet Mode, you will only see your Metro Tiles but still the start button is there to access all your apps.

On your Taskbar, other than the start button , is search and task view. Task View displays your running apps and also multiple virtual desktops. You can create as many desktops as possible but will depend on if your hardware can handle it.

On 8.1, I seldom use store apps as i find them troublesome switching from desktop to metro just to run it. I am also limited to just two via snapview. With Windows 10, Store Apps opens in desktops and you can run many of them at the same time. Some of which also great replacement for legacy desktop apps. Since the Charm bar is no more, you will be able to access settings of Windows Apps via hamburger menu.

Moving on to Microsoft Edge, the new browser is sure is quick and fast in terms of loading your webpages. It also features Reading mode for distraction-free reading of webpages with no ads. With Web Notes, you can scribble, highlight, add notes and clip some parts of webpages which is great for notetaking while surfing.

Build 10240 is Windows 10 RTM

With ASUS Transformer Book T100TA 32GB model, it was not possible to create a recovery drive but after the update you can now create one.

With the Upgrade, the camera app was not functioning but an update of SOC Drivers did fix things. Only one bug i failed to fix is when playing MKV video files, the video is pixelated or glitchy but I guess video codecs is the main culprit. I am sure Microsoft will have an update to fix this.

Will be playing around with Windows 10. Will post updates if there are some new things i encounter or bugs

Just announced last MWC, Lumia 640XL has been spotted and is said to arrive this month April 2015 for Philippine Market.

Microsoft new Phablet sports a 5.7 inch HD 720p IPS LCD Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 enhanced by ClearBlack Technology for pleasurable visuals. Powering the device is Snapdragon 400 Quad-Core processor with Adreno 305 GPU that is supported by 1GB RAM and 8GB Internal Storage. This hardware setup has been seen in other Lumias and so tested for performance and reliability.

Lumia line has been a forced to be reckoned with in terms of optical capabilities. With Lumia 640XL's 13MP Carl Zeiss rear and 5MP front camera you should be able to capture those moments in great detail.

Microsoft introduces yet another affordable smartphone in the form of Lumia 540  Dual Sim.

The New Lumia comes in slew colorful back covers. It features a 5 inch HD IPS LCD Display that equates to 294ppi which should give you quality decent viewing.

Inside, is Snapdragon 200 Quad-Core Processor clocked at 1.2Ghz with Adreno 302 Graphics supported by 1GB RAM and 8GB Internal Storage. An expandable microSD slot is available if you need more storage. Cloud Storage is provided with 15GB via OneDrive.

As for connectivity, the standard options are available like WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. Data connection through 3G or HSPA+ to get you on the go internet access. It is a Dual SIM / Dual Standby device that supports multiple network choices.

Microsoft Makes Windows 10 Upgrade Possible for Pirated Copies

Microsoft decides to give users of pirated copies a chance to upgrade to their new Windows 10 for Free for the first year at least.

In an telephone interview with Reuters, Microsoft's Terry Myerson: "We are upgrading all qualified PCs, genuine and non-genuine, to Windows 10," The plan is to "re-engage" with the hundreds of millions of users of Windows in China, he said, without elaboration."

Seems China is target of this move but eventually it would be good for majority of users to get Windows 10 upgrade at no cost. It's more of marketing strategy like luring them with free taste then Microsoft will be offering subscription to their Office 365 for gain. Still it is Win Win situation for both consumer and Microsoft.  

Windows 10 will be launching this Summer in 190 countries.

For MWC, Cherry Mobile posted via Facebook page yet another milestone for their company with addition of new smartphones for their Alpha Line. Though I guess Microsoft let slip out a few details.
