Alcatel is on a roll releasing Go and Pixi series phones, now another emerge - Pixi 4 6.
Pixi 4 6 inch is Alcatel's new phablet offering that features a 6 qHD inch IPS Display for bigger screen great for entertainment and games. Reminiscent of Flash Plus but on just a bigger scale. Even with polycarbonate construction it is well built and no creaking sounds when handling the device.
MicroSIM Slots is located on the left side of the phone while microSD compartment together with volume rocker and power/lock button is on the right. The MicroUSB and 3.5mm jack is situated on top which is convenient when using your phone in portrait mode if charging and listening to music.
Inside,is a Mediatek MT8321 Quad-Core Processor (usually for tablets) coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal Storage. A microSD Card slot is available for additional storage. Surprisingly enough Pixi 4 6 inch scored Antutu at 23K mark. This may be due to its low qHD resolution paired with tablet class processor. This can be seen in gaming performance as we were able to play Asphalt 8 Airborne at High Settings with less or no lag. Then again if you will be playing try closing running apps and focus on your game. It will handle casual games better but with tweak in display setting will be able some HD Games in medium-low settings.
Runs on Android Lollipop. Its UI is clean and near to stock offering but with few additional features as well as Marshmallow-style notification and control panel. Dual Tap Gesture is added to lessen strain on your power button. Build-in Memory cleaner is there to help close running apps and optimize your system. When you think you lost it, Find My Phone feature is available so you could track location of your smartphone. Although there is a bug where in when you restart the device, language change to Filipino and Setting revert back to original state.
For its camera features, Alcatel Pixi 4 6 is equipped with 13MP Rear Camera and 8MP Front Camera. Both will have LED Flash for light support.
Camera was a surprise as it took quality photos especially daylight shots. Low-lit moments like sunsets come out better with rich colors and adequate contrast. HDR works well lightening up shadows while keeping details intact. The f/2.0 aperture of the rear camera make this possible. Although when it comes to Night shots or near darkness, you really need that flash to brighten up thing or you might not see much.
Selfies is just like the rear camera, good in well-lit conditions. It does have front selfie flash for low light and when against the light to light up your face.
Camera comes in Auto, HDR, Manual, Pano, Scanner, Face Beauty, and Polaroid Mode. Manual Mode offers controls for ISO and White Balance however we thought it would control Shutter Speed, sadly S was for exposure compensation. Polaroid Mode gives you layouts your capture into polaroid-style.
You do get regular set of connectivity features like WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. It makes use of Micro Sim cards. It is a Dual Sim Handset both offering 3G Data Connectivity. It is USB OTG enabled so you could use your usb peripherals like flash drives.
Sorry about that... Seems Philippines will just have the 3G model and not the LTE Model.
Carries a 2580mAh battery which should last you the day with moderate use of course. But if your always on or heavy lifting then I might suggest a powerbank.
Overall, Pixi 4 6 inch is not bad at all. It is a well-constructed phablet that performs with better camera quality. Cons for this smartphone is the software reset bug and low memory (ram) but can be address through firmware updates and ram management by the user. Best suited for New, Social Media, Basic Android User.
Have review unit on hand... What else do you like to know about the phone?
